This block-cutting device is based on a revolutionary concept, and produces individual radiotherapy shielding blocks with unequalled cutting precision. The Oscitome is user-friendly, easy to operate and performs a variety of tasks (multitasking). Thanks to the unique cutting process, which starts inside the shielding block contour, and accurate doses of heat in the oscillating cutting wire, no seams are visible in the Styrofoam mould. This means that there will be no leakage of molten alloy during casting. The Oscitome guarantees you the greatest possible accuracy and reproducibility.

The Oscitome can produce freestanding shielding blocks as well as irregular treatment fields. It saves all patient treatment-field contour data in ASCII text files.

The Oscitome is simple to operate. Each step of the procedure is clearly explained, and the instructions for the user are displayed on the monitor.A plotter, called the 'OsciPlott', is built into the Oscitome. The plotter draws the block contour directly on the linear accelerator tray plates. There are tray-holders for G.E., Philips, Siemens, and Varian products, as well as home made adapters and various combinations of these.

The accuracy is achieved due to the Oscitome being fitted with servo motors. All functions are continuously monitored by an ultimately advanced control system, which is steered by an industrial computer. The operating system is Win 98. The computer and the vacuum cleaner are built into the Oscitome.The Oscitome line consists of 3 models:

  The Oscitome S4+ is similar to the basic S4 model. An extra feature in the Oscitome S4+ allows a milling unit to be built in for the creation of transmission blocks and compensators. The milling unit can be built into the Oscitome S4+ at a later date.

Oscifoam
For the best casts, we advocate the use of Oscifoam, a styrofoam without CFC. This material is very temperature stable, which means that the mould will keep its optimum precision once cooled down. Ask for a free test sample.
